God Promised
Sometimes it’s great to get a promise from someone, isn’t it? However, sometimes we end up making promises that we just can’t keep. God’s Word teaches us, that if we say that we will do something, it should be done. Don’t just say that you are going to do something.
Above all, my brothers, do not swear—not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. Let your “Yes” be yes, and your “No,” no, or you will be condemned. James 5:12
It would seem to be a wise thing not to make promises that we cannot keep. I don’t know about you, but I am really glad that God is not like us in the promise keeping department. When God makes a promise, it’s as good as done.
God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? Numbers 23:19
God made many promises in times past. Many of them have come to pass…
Now the LORD was gracious to Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did for Sarah what he had promised. Genesis 21:1
“I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.” Genesis 28:15
But he brought us out from there to bring us in and give us the land that he promised on oath to our forefathers. Deuteronomy 6:23
“I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.” Joshua 1:3
Now do it! For the LORD promised David, ‘By my servant David I will rescue my people Israel from the hand of the Philistines and from the hand of all their enemies.’ “ 2 Samuel 3:18
“From this man’s descendants God has brought to Israel the Savior Jesus, as he promised.” Acts 13:23
“I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.” Luke 24:49
And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit… Ephesians 1:13
Meanwhile, there are still some that we are waiting to receive. Get ready, they’re coming soon…
He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets. Acts 3:21
For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant. Hebrews 9:15
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23
Indeed, He is faithful. Many more promises than these has He made, and kept thus far. Unlike anyone else, His promise keeping record is at 100%! Consider it done. We need not worry or fear, for if God has promised us something, we are getting it.
God is not sitting somewhere twiddling His thumbs, pacing back and forth, wondering what will happen. Not at all! He has made some great promises, and He is keeping them.
You need only to trust in Him. He wants to give us so much. He wants us to know that all we need is Him. He wants us to know Him. He is more than happy to provide us with what we need.
Our hope is in Him alone…because He promised.
