He Claimed to be the Son of God

“I told you that you would die in your sins, for unless you believe that I am he you will die in your sins.” (John 8:24, ESV)

People make claims about everything and anything, don’t they? They claim to see the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot or UFO’s. Are these claims true just because people say so? Not necessarily.

Jesus made some pretty bold claims. So what makes Jesus’ claims any different from the rest? This is what He claimed; to be the Son of God, bringing a message straight from His Father in heaven. He was bold enough to tell people to believe in Him or else. Who does that?

Well, what do you think about someone who would make such claims? He would either be a fool or the real deal, right? Jesus had the guts to make such rash and piercing claims, so either He was crazy, or He was indeed the way to eternal life (John 3:16). Wouldn’t it be worth checking out these potentially life-altering claims?

A lot of people believe that Christians are arrogant in saying that there could only be one way to heaven. The fact is, God tells us that is the way in His word, and Christians are merely trusting in Him because He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

Of course it would seem strange to someone who doesn’t know Him, but God will honor a heart that seeks truth. So why not ask God to reveal Himself to you? Start with His Word, the Bible. You might be surprised by how He chooses to speak to you.

What do you have to lose if you check it out and these claims prove false? Nothing. But what do you have to lose if you don’t check it out and these claims prove true? Everything.

So what are you going to do? Either way, we are all faced with a choice that has to be made. Either we are for Jesus, or not. There really is no in between.

Choose wisely. Make sure that you know because it’s important. Don’t just base decisions on excuses, and circumstances. Actually do the work.

But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul. Deuteronomy 4:29

‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ Jeremiah 33:3
