What do you think it would be like, not to know where your next meal would come from? 

I can honestly say that I have never been without food or water, outside of my own will.  Most of us have an abundance.  Yet, in other countries around the world, children either get sick from what they eat and drink, or they do not have anything to ease their hunger pains.  It is a real tragedy.

Why are so many people lacking?
The World Food Program blames a combination of natural disasters, drought, war, poverty, agricultural infrastructure, and over-exploitation of the environment.

Chronic poverty is a root cause of hunger. World Vision believes that food aid is a key tool in addressing chronic hunger and food insecurity.

Food aid, in all its forms and in conjunction with other programs, can help eliminate poverty and lessen the impact of global hunger.

852 million people worldwide are undernourished (or hungry), including 815 million people in developing countries.

300 million children around the world suffer from hunger.

Nearly160 million children under five are moderately or severely underweight.

In sub-Saharan Africa more than 200 million people are malnourished.

In developing countries, more than 16% of children under 5 lack adequate nutrition. More than one-third of all children are malnourished, lack basic immunizations, or are not enrolled in or attending school.
